Manitoba’s 138th nominee draw was held in response to the situation in Ukraine and is in line with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) special measures implemented for those involved.
This draw targeted citizens of Ukraine who submitted an Expression of Interest profile and met the following requirements:
Skilled Workers in Manitoba:
Number of Invitations issued: 206
Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 612
International Education Stream:
Number of Invitations issued: 33
Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: N/A
Skilled Workers Overseas:
Number of Invitations issued: 39
Score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 685
This draw targeted all other candidates in the Expression of Interest pool. Those invited under the Skilled Worker Overseas category required a previous invitation from a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
Manitoba has three main skilled worker streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education stream. To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, a candidate must meet the eligibility criteria for one of these three programs.
Once a candidate has submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI), Manitoba will rank the profile using their unique points grid.
In regular draws, MPNP issues “Letters of Advice of Apply” (LAA) to the highest-ranking candidates.
Successful applicants will subsequently be invited to apply to the Canadian government for permanent residency.
Manitoba’s immigration has been ramping up over the last few years. The MPNP saw its highest-ever immigration levels last year since their nominee program began in 1998.
“While we’re very proud of these results, we know there are different areas of the labour market that need people with very specific skills to enable them to grow further,” said Heather Stefanson, Manitoba premier.
