Express Entry Draw 232 | 3,750 Invited Through All Programs

The CRS in Express Entry Draw 232 has decreased from 510 to 504 in Wednesday’s draw. A record number of Invitations to Apply were issued with 3,750 being invited in the 232nd draw. There was no program specified for the draw, meaning that invitations were issued to candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Express Entry draw 232 is the 7th draw since all-program draws resumed on July 6th. It has followed previous trends of a gradually decreasing CRS score and an increase in the number of ITAs issued. The CRS score has gradually been decreasing with each draw as the number of backlogged applications is being processed. Since all program draws have resumed, the CRS score has decreased 53 points overall and a total of 17,250 applicants have received an ITA.

Express Entry draw 232 saw similar trends to previous draws. Each Express Entry draw since July 6th has seen a gradual decrease in CRS scores and an increase in the number of ITAs issued. Wednesday’s draw saw a decrease of 6 points compared to the previous draw on September 14th. There was also an additional 500 ITAs issued in the most recent draw.

Record Immigration Numbers

Express Entry is one of the most popular pathways to immigrate to Canada. Each year Canada welcomes over 100,000 skilled workers through the Express Entry System. It was announced by Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, that the country is on track to exceed its 2022 immigration goal of 430,000, a record for the country. 

So far this year, Canada has welcomed a record number of immigrants through Express Entry. If immigration continues at the current rate, it is possible that Canada could exceed its 2022 Immigration targets. 

Canada is facing a historically low unemployment rate and over one million job vacancies. It has become increasingly difficult to fill essential jobs throughout the country due to labour shortages. Some essential services have even had to limit hours or close completely due to staff shortages. Immigration is one way to address this problem, with many calling for increased immigration quotas to meet demands.

Changes Coming in 2023

Sean Fraser released his new plan to help temporary residents transition to permanent residents last week. Among other initiatives was an update to the Express Entry system that will likely take effect in early 2023. These changes will help IRCC to issue ITAs that target individuals with specific work experience, education, or language ability, to support Canada’s economy and labour force. 

It was also announced that they would review the CRS to review the number of points awarded for factors such as Canadian work experience, Canadian education, language proficiency and having a job offer. Depending on the specific changes made, it could mean that CRS scores might become less vital in future draws.  

When Will the Next Express Entry Draw Be?

According to IRCC, all-program Express Entry draws will continue to be held on a bi-weekly basis. Following this schedule, the next anticipated all-program Express Entry draw will be October 12th, 2022. 

The CRS cut-off will likely continue to slowly decline as the IRCC continues to work to address backlog issues.
