4 Reasons to Start Preparing Your Express Entry Profile Now

The Canadian government recently announced that all-program Express Entry draws will be resuming in early July 2022. While it may seem far away, it is important to start preparing your profile in advance to ensure you don’t miss an invitation in the next big draw.

Find out if you're eligible to enter the Express Entry pool

Preparing a strong Express Entry profile may take longer than you think! Here are four reasons to start the process now:

1. You will have more time to gather all the required documents

To submit an Express Entry profile, you must secure two important documents: one to confirm your English or French language proficiency, and one to confirm the Canadian equivalence of your education.

Since your language results will determine your eligibility and ranking in the Express Entry pool, it is important to take sufficient time to prepare before sitting the exam.

Securing an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) report also takes time to secure. Most ECA reports take at least one month to process once they have received a complete application. However, because your school needs to send required documents to the organization directly, this can also slow down the process. If you are assessing more than one credential, this can further add to the delay.

If you receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency, you will have 60 days to submit several other documents confirming the information provided in your profile. Since some of these documents can take a long time to obtain, it is a good idea to start this process early.

2. You will have time to improve your Express Entry score

Express Entry operates using two main point systems. One determines your eligibility to enter the pool, and the other determines your ranking.

If you are not currently eligible for Express Entry, it is possible to overcome this by increasing your score. Whether you can overcome your ineligibility will depend on your profile. Complete our free online assessment form to determine whether you can be eligible to submit an Express Entry profile.

If you have determined you are eligible, is a good idea to take time to improve your ranking in the pool. This is something you can start working on before you’ve even entered the Express Entry pool.

The best way for you to increase your CRS score will depend on your own unique profile. Get in touch with a legal expert to learn more about your options to increase your ranking in the Express Entry pool.

3. You will have time to learn about the Express Entry process

It is important to take the time to familiarize yourself with the full Express Entry process. Express Entry is a complex process with many documents required at various stages. It is helpful to understand what will be expected from you, and an approximate timeline of how long each stage will take.

Getting help from an experienced immigration lawyer is the best way to learn more about the process, and ensure you are taking the right steps forward.

4. You will be prepared for a draw in your favour

Express Entry draws are unpredictable. The Canadian government does not release details of what profiles it is targeting ahead of each draw. For this reason, it is important to have a strong profile submitted to the Express Entry pool.

The next all-program Express Entry draw may target in-demand occupations. By preparing your profile ahead of time, you can avoid missing out on receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) when these draws begin.

With the next all-program Express Entry draw expected within the next couple of months, the sooner you start preparing your Express Entry profile, the better.
